Most of these symptoms are self limiting. Some requires the nurse to adjust the infusion rate, while others would resolved within 24 or 48 hours.

THE BENEFITS OF IRON INFUSION
- It is a safe and effective way of replenishing your iron stores, working almost immediately compared to oral iron tablets which takes between 3 to 6months t be effective.
- Occasionally when the iron stores is critically low or you are actually anaemic from low red blood cells, iron infusion is the only way to rapidly boost up the iron stores and allowing your red cells to recover.
- Iron infusion will be useful for some patients who are losing or using up iron stores faster than dietary or oral tablet can sustained. This can be patients with heavy periods, underlying medical reasons and chronic illness or even patients with high exercise requirement and atehlites
- Some patients are not able to tolerate oral supplements. Iron infusion becomes an alternate option for the patients.
- Iron requirement is increased significantly during pregnancy. It is not uncommon that infusion is required. Iron infusion is safe to be given during pregnancy, after the first trimester of pregnancy.
