NON-ABLATIVE LASER REJUVENATION FOR AGEING SKIN

Skin ageing is a natural process and every person’s face ages differently. With increasing age, there is a gradual reduction in production of collagen, leading to a loss of water retaining ability, dermal volume, and skin laxity. This gives rise to the appearance of dull skin textures, changes in facial contour, slacking and sagging skin, larger pores and definition of skin tone, changes in pigmentation and skin colouration, dehydrated and rough skin, increasing skin fragility leading to easy bruising and poor skin healing.

While ageing cannot be stopped completely, there are ways to slow down the process to preserve your youthfulness as long as possible. The role of laser facial rejuvenation, also known as laser resurfacing, is to:

  • Improve skin texture and contour
  • Restore the volume of collagen
  • Reduce sagging skin around the cheek and jaw
  • Improve the appearance of wrinkles and lines around the forehead, eyes and lips
  • Correct pigmentation, tone and skin discolouration
  • Improve pore sizes and skin roughness.

While plastic surgery, fillers, injectables and ablative lasers play a major role in facial rejuvenation, there is a trend of moving towards minimalism and the use of non-ablative laser rejuvenation. Maintaining a healthy skin complexion and anti-ageing is no longer a full-time job.

This bright, healthy, and radiant skin effect from Pico Genesis laser is sometimes known as the “Pico Glow.”

Oil is produced by sebaceous glands on the skin. There are many reasons for oily skin on faces. Some are due to genetic factors, others due to the environment factors, humidity and underlying medical conditions and hormonal fluctuations. Excess oil production can lead to enlarged pores, acne outbreaks and an uneven complexion.

There are many at home remedies to assist in reducing oily skin. Increasing face washing, moisturizing and the use of blotting paper after some of the effective simple measures to reduce oil on the skin.

Laser facial rejuvenation can help manage oily skin by regulating oil production and promoting skin balance. Our treatments address both the surface appearance and underlying causes of oily skin, resulting in a smoother, more refined look.

Due to the fact that it can help to promote collagen, elastin, and new skin cell production, Laser Genesis treatments can also help to restore moisture to your skin. This is perfect for those with oily or dull complexions, as it can help reduce the appearance of large pores and oily skin. Your skin will be smoother, softer, and will have a more youthful glow to it.

Skin laxity, characterised by sagging and reduced firmness, is a natural part of the aging process. With increasing age, the gradual reduction in collagen content and volume, along with destruction of organised fibres and elastin leads to lost of water retaining ability of the skin, laxity and elasticity of the dermal tissues. This gives rise to slacking and sagging of skin, and development of various fine lines and wrinkles.

Laser rejuvenation treatment promotes collagen and elastin productions. The end result is diminishing the appearance of existing fine lines and wrinkles, improving skin tightening, firmness and resilience, reducing the sagginess and droopiness of skin laxity.

Melanin gives us our skin colour. When melanin producing cells lose their ability to spread pigment evenly over the skin, the melanin is then concentrated in one area of the skin causing pigmentation over the skin area or pigmented skin lesions.

The most common causes of skin pigmentation is aging leading to changes in skin tone and colour, age spots and seborrheic keratitis. Repeated sun exposure predispose to variety of pigmented lesions like freckles, solar lentigo, melasma and Hori’s neavus. Some patients are born with pigmented birthmarks. Hormonal changes during pregnancy or the use of contraceptive pills can also induced pigment changes. Post-inflammatory pigmentation is a form of dark discolouration and lesions cause by chronic inflammation on skin from acne, rash or damage skin.

Regardless of type and severity of pigmentation, Laser Rejuvenation has the ability to lighten pigmentation and regain radiant and even tone skin
